The Teams
The successful completion of the Toledo Waterways Initiative will mark the culmination of a public – private relationship that traces back to TWI’s beginnings. The public team includes City of Toledo professional employees as well as citizens who serve and have served on various committees which make valuable contributions to TWI’s progress.
The private sector team is comprised of engineering and construction-related companies as well as various support businesses whose responsibility it is to plan, design and build the myriad of projects that make up TWI.
Heading the public team is the staff of Toledo’s Department of Public Utilities of which TWI is a part. Other divisions within Public Utilities with major involvement in TWI are the Division of Engineering Services and the Division of Water Reclamation. Citizens serve as members of TWI’s Community Participation Advisory Committee as well as on committees designated for certain geographic areas such as the Point Place and River Road Neighborhood Advisory Committees.
The private sector team is headed by program manager Black & Veatch, one of the world’s largest and most diversified engineering /construction firms. B&V maintains a Toledo office to coordinate the activities of numerous TWI subcontractors. The group is a mix of other international firms as well as local companies.
