Point Place
Point Place was one of the first areas in Toledo to benefit from the Toledo Waterways Initiative. Work was done in Point Place from 2002 through 2006 to control the area’s sanitary sewer overflows.

Five construction contracts over three years resulted in the installation of over 26,000 feet of new sewer/force main, building of two pump stations and the three existing sanitary sewer overflow pump stations were eliminated.
Because of its location, the planned construction around Point Place presented several challenges in the design including narrow roads with many existing utilities, major road crossings, traffic flow concerns, and golf course disruption.
In May 2006, the City completed the last phase of the sanitary sewer system improvements in the Point Place area. As a result of these improvements, sanitary sewer overflows in Point Place have been eliminated. All of the sewage generated in Point Place that used to overflow into the Ottawa River and Maumee Bay during heavy rains is now pumped to the Bay View Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The new pump station was built near the intersection of 290th Street and Ottawa River Road, replacing the older structure.

A 24-inch relief sewer and a 24-inch forcemain was installed under 117th Street during the project.
